Step Cracks

They are comparable to diagonal cracks, but they have a staircase shape since they mostly occur in the joints of concrete blocks.

Horizontal Cracks

They indicates damage in the wall’s structure. They are associated with wall bowing that can cause the wall to collapse if the cracks are not repaired on time. There are several methods of repairing building cracks as highlighted by Cherry Hill Foundations & Waterproofing.

4 Types of Wall Cracks

Epoxy Injections

Epoxy injections are used to repair cracks that are as narrow as 0.05 millimeter's. The cracks on open surfaces are sealed injecting epoxy under the concrete.

It is vital to find and fix the root cause of cracks before injecting the epoxy into the cracks else the cracks will keep on recurring. Leakages and silt contamination damage the efficiency of epoxy, and so fixing these issues before injecting the epoxy makes it last longer.

Routing and Sealing

Routing and sealing the cracks are common and simpler methods to repair cracks. However, they are only used in cases where only remedial crack repairing is required and structural repairs are not needed.

The method involves enlarging the cracks on the surface then filling and sealing it with a joint sealant.

Stitching the Cracks

The stitching method is a simple and long-lasting method of repairing the cracked building. Holes are drilled to form entry and exit points across the cracked surface. Several U-shaped metallic staples are then passed through the holes and fixed tightly in the holes.

Drilling and Plugging

Drilling and plugging, often referred to as "drill and plug," is a common technique used in various industries, particularly in construction, mining, geology, and environmental remediation. This method involves drilling holes into a material or surface and then plugging or sealing those holes for various purposes, such as stabilization, containment, or extraction.
